Cookie Policy

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This page lists the ones this site uses and how to refuse them.

1. What this site sets

Google Analytics cookies, and a preference for whether you chose light or dark mode.

That is the whole list. There are no advertising cookies, no retargeting pixels, no social media trackers and no cross-site profiling on this site.

2. The analytics cookies

Google Analytics 4 sets two cookies, typically named _ga and _ga_ followed by a property identifier. They distinguish one browser from another so a returning visit is not counted as a new person, and they usually last around two years.

They tell us which pages are read, roughly where visitors are, and which link brought them here. They do not tell us who you are.

3. The theme preference

Your light or dark mode choice is stored in your browser's local storage so the site does not flash the wrong theme on your next visit. It never leaves your device and is not a tracking cookie.

4. When they are set

Analytics loads as soon as a page opens. This site does not currently show a cookie consent banner, so analytics is not waiting on your permission.

We would rather state that plainly than display a banner that implies a choice we are not actually offering. If you are in a region where consent is required and this matters to you, the next section removes analytics entirely for your browser.

5. How to refuse them

Any of these work, and none of them break the site:

  • Block or clear cookies for this site in your browser settings
  • Install Google's official Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which disables Google Analytics everywhere
  • Turn on your browser's tracking protection, or use private browsing
  • Use a content blocker — most block Google Analytics by default

6. Changes

If we add or remove a cookie, this page and the date at the top change with it. Questions: softuramm@gmail.com.
